Abstract : Outbreaks of Achaea catocaloides Gn. and A. lienardi (Boisd.) took place in the Accra district of Ghana in 1969, 1972 and 1973; the adults causing a nuisance about buildings and sucking mango fruits, apparently through already existing punctures. A. lienardi was most abundant in 1972 and 1973, and A. catocaloides in 1969. Adult behaviour and colour pattern polymorphism are described in both species; in comparison with A. lienardi, A. catocaloides showed little variation in colour.
