Artificial fruit ripening in mango.

Abstract : In 2-year trials with the mango cv. Bangalore, treatment with Ethrel [ethephon] at 5000 p.p.m. gave the best results by reducing the number of days taken for ripening from 9.3-9.4 in the control to 2.6-2.8. The other treatments (calcium carbide at 25 or 50 g or Ethrel at 3000 p.p.m.) gave intermediate results. The data are tabulated.
