The validity of Idiocerus nigroclypeatus Melichar and its transfer to Idioscopus Baker.

Abstract : On the basis of observations carried out in India, it is proposed that Idiocerus nigroclypeatus Melich. be transferred to the genus Idioscopus, as it possesses long aedeagal apical filaments. Cicadellids on mango in New Delhi and Andhra Pradesh were identified as I. clypealis (Leth.), and those on mango in Mangalore, Pusa-Bihar and Burma as I. nigroclypeatus, showing that the 2 species to have clear-cut geographical distribution.
