Abstract : The study was conducted in Srinivaspur taluk of Kolar district in Karnataka during 2005 to know the extent of adoption of production techniques by mango growers. A total of 120 mango growers were interviewed using a pre-tested interview schedule. The results revealed that 46.7 per cent of big farmers belonged to high adoption category when compared to 35 per cent of small farmers. Further, 28.3 per cent of small farmers belonged to low adoption category when compared to 23.3 per cent of big farmers. Lack of knowledge about practices such as identifying pests, timely irrigation, fertilizer application, chemical application, irrigation facility and identifying disease were the major production constraints faced by majority of (65%) both small and big farmers.
