Abstract : Field experiments were conducted in Anage, Bahia, Brazil, to study the community of chrysopids in a mango orchard in Anage, Bahia, Brazil, and their seasonal occurrence from December 2003 to November 2004. Monthly collection using an entomological net and attractant traps with mango juice bait and hydrolyzed protein were performed. The chrysopids community characterization was conducted through the faunistic index, relative frequency, constancy, dominance, richness and diversity. The seasonal occurrence was performed with the total of specimens in each collection time and sampling method. To evaluate the climatic factor effects, only the classified species were considered as constants. It was verified that the mango juice attractant was efficient for capturing Leucochrysa sp. The occurrence of Ceraeochrysa claveri, Ceraeochrysa cubana, Ceraeochrysa dislepis, Ceraeochrysa sanchezi, Chrysoperla externa, Chrysopodes elongata, Chrysopodes spinella, L. (Nodita) camposi, L. (Nodita) guataparensis, L. (Nodita) rodriguezi and L. (Nodita) ictericus were verified for the first time in Anage, Bahia, Brazil. L. (Nodita) guataparensis and L. (Nodita) rodriguezi were predominant in mango cultivations. The minimum temperature affected the populations of L. (Nodita) rodriguezi and Chrysoperla externa for the conditions in Anage, Bahia, Brazil. Chrysoperla externa, L (Nodita) guataparensis and L. (Nodita) rodriguezi showed a potential to be used in biological control programmes applied in the southwest region of Bahia.
