Abstract : The pattern of fruit growth in the mango cv. Dashehari was sigmoid. Gibberellin content in the seed increased rapidly during early growth and declined as growth decreased. The seed was the major source of gibberellin in the fruit, the epicarp containing only traces. Eight gibberellin-like substances were isolated from immature seeds by chromatography. Substances X2, X3, X4, X5, X6, X7 and X8 behaved similarly to gibberellins A1, A7, A9, A4, A3, A5 and A6, respectively. The behaviour of X1 was different from any of the authentic gibberellins with which it was compared.
