Bienniality alleviation of mango cv. LANGRA through confluence of cultar, KNO3 and urea.

Abstract : Percentage of new shoots, length and diameter of terminal shoots, no. of leaves and leaf area on per shoot basis were significantly reduced by the soil application of 4 ml Cultar/tree and foliar spray of 2% KNO3 and 2% Urea. Interactions in pooled values like C2 × P2 and C2 × P2 × U2 (4 ml Cultar/tree+2% KNO3+2% Urea) highly significantly decreased diameter of terminal shoots. Duration of flowering was markedly decreased but flowering shoots (%) increased in off year, on year and pooled values by feeding of 4 ml Cultar, 2% KNO3 and 2% Urea. Interactions C2 × P2; P2 × U2 and C2 × P2 × U2 of pooled data significantly reduced duration of flowering over other treatments. Applied chemicals inhibited elongation of inflorescence and thickened the spread of the same. C2 (4 ml Cultar/tree), P2 (2% KNO3) and U2 (2% Urea) of main effect and C2 × P2 P2 × U2 and C2 × P2 × U2 in off year, C2 × P2 in on year and C2 × P2, P2 × U2 and C2 × P2 × U2 in pooled data significantly minimized sex-ratio. Fruit set (%) and fruit retention (%) both were increased, significantly by the application of 4 ml Cultar/tree, 2% KNO3 and 2% Urea in both seasons and pooled values. Similar trend was exhibited by yield. Interactions C2 × P2 and C2 × P2 × U2 of pooled data regarding fruit retention were significantly superior to other treatments and control.
