Abstract : This paper reviews the significant role and potential of Oecophylla longinoda as a predator in multiple tree crops (coconuts, cocoa, citrus, cashew and mango), either used alone or integrated with other pest management strategies, and indicates the role farmers can play in research and development. Recent efforts to integrate Oecophylla in programmes supporting organic and fair trade markets are also presented.
