Abstract : Mango has been cultivated in India since time immemorial, and India is the second largest producer of fruit, next only to China and their production has increased three times over the last 50 years. Bilaspur is a leading district of Chhattisgarh in mango production. Due to the local cultivars, the average mango production is very small compared to other states. Quality parameters of 15 mango cultivars were studied during 1996-2001 at the Regional Agricultural Research Station (IGAU), Sarkanda Farm, Bilaspur. Observations were recorded from 20 randomly selected fruits from each cultivar representing the whole produce. Dashhari cultivar performed well in this region, recording the highest pulp percentage, minimum stone percentage and maximum total soluble solids among all the cultivars studied.
