Abstract : The biochemical status of mango explants at pre-culture and in vitro phenol exudation at post-culture stages indicated that the in vivo level of total carbohydrates, phenol, polyphenol oxidase [catechol oxidase] and peroxidase activities were significantly higher in cultivar Pusa Arunima in comparison to cultivar Amrapali. Pre-treatment comprising etiolation+agitation with 0.2% PVP [polyvidone]+medium additive PVP at 0.2% proved the most efficient to contain in vitro phenolic exudation and to improve culture survival of shoot explants in mango at different post-inoculation periods.
