Abstract : In 2-year trials mango trees, cvs Bombai and Langra, were sprayed with NPK as urea at 1.0 or 1.35% + muriate of potash at 0.97 or 1.35% (in various combinations) + sodium orthophosphate at 0.70% at monthly intervals from September to December and the effects were assessed on fruit set, fruit drop and fruit numbers. With Bombai there was a tendency towards enhanced fruit set in the first year with all treatments except the lowest concentrations, but in the second year differences in fruit set were slight. Fruit numbers/tree in both years were markedly increased by urea at 1.0% + muriate of potash at 1.35%, and in the second year by all treatments. Langra did not flower in the first year, but in the second year fruit set was increased by all treatments except the lowest concentrations. Fruit numbers were not affected. There were no effects on the fruit drop of either cv.
