Studies on survey and casual agent of tip dieback disease of mango, Magifera indica L.

Abstract : Surveys of different mango (Magifera indica [Mangifera indica]) orchards at Tando Qaiser, Tandojam, Village Karim Dad Khaskheli, Arbab Nahiyoon, Mureed Sipio and Khesano Mori, Pakistan, were conducted to estimate the incidence of tip dieback disease. The maximum disease incidence was obtained on Lungra cultivar (52.0%) at Tando Qaiser, followed by Tandojam (48.0%). The minimum disease incidence was recorded on Siroli cultivar (16.0%) at Khesano Mori. The overall mean disease incidence on Lungra (28.0-52.0%) was followed by that on Chaunsa (24.0-44.0%), Sindhri (16.0-36.0%) and Siroli cultivars (16.0-28.0%). The disease severity recorded on Lungra was 63.33-81.66%, followed by Chaunsa (60.0-75.0%), Sindhri (11.66-25.0%) and Siroli (7.66-15.0%), respectively. The fungi isolated from tip dieback diseased mango were Fusarium equiseti, Alternaria alternata, Aspergillus niger and Rhizopus nigricans [Rhizopus stolonifer]. The maximum frequency occurrence of Fusarium equiseti on Lungra (35.20-65.25%) was followed by Chaunsa (30.0-55.30%), Sindhri (15.20-35.20%) and Siroli (12.25-20.25%), respectively.
