Abstract : Physiological loss in weight was maximum in untreated fruits (35.43%) and minimum in fruits treated with captan at 2000 ppm for 5 min + newspaper wrapping (24.13%). Similarly, spoilage was lowest (11.60%) in fruits treated with captan + newspaper wrapping. When the loss due to spoilage exceeds 10-15%, further storage of fruit is supposed to be uneconomical. Fruits treated with captan at 2000 ppm with newspaper wrapping showed the maximum economic shelf life of 15 days and maintained good organoleptic quality up to 15 days of storage.
