Abstract : An experiment was conducted in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, India, during 1995-99 to study the incidence of panicle malformation in 81 cultivars and 10 hybrids of 10- to 25-year-old mango trees. The cultivar Dahiyar remained completely free from malformation. The average incidence of floral malformation was less than 5% on cultivars His hihness, Yadoyad, Langra, Jahangeer, Gulabkhas, Balrambhog, Gopalbhog, Subja, Safeda, Aswaniya, Khoot, Sensation, Rumanee, Khirama, Madhukuppy, Kalepad, Neelam, Bangalora, Dilsad, Kalapahar, Kesar, Bombay green and Choota Kaliya. Langra, Rumanee, Kalepad and Khirana were the only cultivars that showed less than 5% incidence of malformation, while the remaining cultivars showed 5.46-51.79% incidence. All the hybrids showed high incidence of malformation (from 23.00 to 58.88%).
