Abstract : This study analyses the evolution of the mango production chain by focusing on world trade in mangoes and the main mango-producing and consuming countries. The main Brazilian producing states and the amounts destined for both the export and domestic markets are presented. Concerning the wholesale market of São Paulo in the 1990s, the prices and amounts of different cultivars are compared. The method of centred geometric moving average is used to calculate the seasonal pattern of prices and amounts in the city of São Paulo for the Tommy Atkins and Haden cultivars.
