Monitoring of the resistance of Colletotrichum gloeosporioides mango anthracnose to the fungicide carbendazim.

Abstract : The sensitivity baseline of Colletotrichum gloeosporioides [Glomerella cingulata], the causal agent of mango anthracnose, to carbendazim was studied. The mean EC50 and minimum inhibitory concentration values of carbendazim inhibiting the mycelium growth of 117 wild-type isolates were 0.0568±0.0018 and 1.0 µg/mL, respectively. The resistance of C. gloeosporioides to carbendazim was monitored in China from 1996 to 2000, and the results showed that substantial resistance developed in the population. 48.59% of the evaluated isolates were resistant to carbendazim, and the percentage of isolates classified into high-level, mid-level, low-level and very-high-levels of resistance were 18.66, 18.0, 7.38 and 4.56%, respectively. The dynamics of resistance to carbendazim is discussed.
