Abstract : The effects of culture media (tap water, sterilized tap water, distilled water, 2% sucrose solution and mango leaf extract) on the spore germination of Colletotrichum gloeosporioides [Glomerella cingulata] causing anthracnose in mangoes were determined. The conidia were oblong or cylindical, hyaline, nonseptate with rounded ends and thin-walled with oil globules in the centre. The conidia in the culture media were reddish. Spore germination was highest in 2% sucrose solution (97%) and lowest in distilled water (77%).
