Effect of thiourea, potassium nitrate and urea on new shoot production and fruiting in Dashehari mango.

Abstract : In an experiment conducted in the Tarai region of Uttar Pradesh, India, 15-year-old Dashehari mango trees were sprayed with different concentrations (1, 2 and 3%) of thiourea, potassium nitrate and urea just after the fruit harvest in July. Data on leaf injury, new shoot production and fruit yield were recorded. Foliar application of the chemicals produced some injuries in the leaves. The lowest leaf injury was observed under urea treatments, while slightly higher injuries was noticed in the potassium nitrate and thiourea treatments. All chemicals had no significant effect on new shoot production and subsequent flowering and fruiting of Dashehari mangoes in the Tarai region of Uttar Pradesh.
