Abstract : Mango cv. Dashehari fruits were wrapped individually or in bulk (1 kg) with polyvinyl chloride and low density polyethylene cling films, polyethylene gauge and newspaper to determine the effects of the different films on the shelf life of mangoes. Physiological weight loss and decay loss were lowest in fruits wrapped in polyethylene film. Differences in the shelf life of mangoes due to individual or 1-kg wrapping of fruits were not significant. Acidity and ascorbic acid content was higher in wrapped fruits, whereas the total soluble solids was higher in the unwrapped fruits.
