Abstract : Ten mango hybrids (Prabha Shankar, Mahmood Bahar, Amrapali, Mallika, Ratna, A.U. Rumani, Swarna Jahangir, Neeludin, Neeleshan, and Neelgoa) and two open-pollinated cultivars as controls (Langra and Bombai) were evaluated in Sabour, Bihar, India, during 1997, 1998, and 1999 for flowering, fruiting, and fruit quality. On average, panicle emergence was earliest in A.U. Rumani and fruit set was earliest in Mallika. Mallika generally recorded the highest fruit yield, fruit weight, pulp percentage, and total soluble solids and sugar contents. The highest acidity percentage (0.36%) was recorded for Bombai fruits. Due to its superior fruit yield and quality, Mallika is recommended for cultivation under Bihar conditions.
