Comparative study of flower sex ratio in different cultivars of mango (Mangifera indica L.).

Abstract : A field experiment was conducted in Faisalabad, Pakistan, during the flowering season [date not given] to investigate the panicle initiation time, total flower number and proportion of male to female flowers in mango cultivars Anwar Rataul, Dasehari and Langra. The highest early panicle initiation was observed in Dasehari on the eastern side of the plant, followed by Langra and Anwar Ratual. Langra had the highest number of flowers (598.75), with the highest number of hermaphrodite flowers on the western and southern side of the plant, respectively. The lowest number of male flowers was in Langra, while Anwar Ratual had the lowest number (125.75) of hermaphrodite flowers.
