Flowering and frutification of mango with use of paclobutrazol, ethephon and calcium nitrate.

Abstract : The effects of paclobutrazol (PBZ; 1000 or 1500 mg/litre), ethephon (1 or 3 ml) and calcium nitrate (2 and 3%), applied in combination, to the induction of flowering in mango cv. Tommy Atkins were determined in a field experiment conducted in Brazil. The greatest flowering (81.75%) and number of fruits (86) were observed with application of 2% calcium nitrate + 1500 mg PBZ/litre and 3% calcium nitrate + 1500 mg PBZ/litre, respectively. Fruit weight was highest (425.5 g/fruit) with application of 3 ml/litre ethephon. No significant differences were observed among the chemicals in terms of production.
