Abstract : Field experiments were conducted from 1989 to 1997 at Gurdaspur, Punjab, India to evaluate the effects different NPK levels on the growth, yield and fruit quality of mango cv. Dashehari. N at 0, 400 and 800 g, P (as P2O5) at 0, 200 and 400 g, and K (as K2O) at 0, 300 and 600 g were applied in all possible combinations to 25-year-old mango trees. Tree height and girth were highest at the 800 g N + 200 g P + 300 g K treatment with values of 11.26 m and 125.0 cm, respectively. The maximum values for mean spread towards the North-South (11.44 m) and East-West directions (11.90 m) were obtained with 800 g N + 200 P + 300 g K and 400 g N + 0 g P + 0 g K treatments, respectively. The highest fruit yield of 132.0 kg/tree was recorded for the 800 g N + 200 g P + 300 g K treatment. The same treatment combination gave the highest values for fruit (166.0 g) and pulp weight (104.4 g), while 400 g N + 0 g P + 300 g K gave the highest stone weight value (37.0 g). No significant differences in the total soluble solids were observed among the different NPK treatments.
