Abstract : Studies were conducted to investigate how drip irrigation impacted on mango yields on the amount of water required and on the investment required. The studies focused on drip-irrigated mango (Mangifera Indica) in western Uttar Pradesh (UP) and around Hyderabad region of Andhra Pradesh (AP), India. Mango yields varied from 24 to 83 t/ha for 6 to 30 year-old trees in western UP; and 20 to 29 t/ha for 4 to 6 year-old trees in AP. The volume of water applied per year varied from 2270 - 5880 m3/ha for the UP study and 1550 - 3720 m3/ha for the AP study. The average initial cost oft the drip system was 730-850 $/ha, and the net cash inflow for 10 years was 25?000 - 27?000 $/ha.
