Evaluating the production potential of land for tropical fruit crops.

Abstract : The most important climatic and soil conditions which affect the production of banana, litchi, mango, pineapple, pawpaws and other tropical fruits are reviewed. Based on a literature review, a crop growth requirement listing for litchi is presented. The development of a land rating system to identify the most suitable areas for cultivation of these crops, using the FAO system for land evaluation, is discussed.
