Fruit fly development in different mango cultivars.

Abstract : Studies were carried out in South Africa to investigate the development peaks of Ceratitis capitata, C. rosa and C. cosyra in mango cultivars Tommy Atkins, Zill, Kent, Sensation, Heidi and Keitt. Ova were found within 1-2 days of infestation, 1st-instar after 2-3 days, 2nd-instar after 3-4 days and 3rd-instar after 5-6 days.
