Abstract : Five-year-old mango (cv. Haden) trees planted at high density (3.5 × 3.5 m) in Maracay, Venezuela, were subjected to 3 levels of pruning (20, 30 or 40 cm from the apex) during the first week of December 1994. Pruning to a length of 30 cm resulted in the greatest flowering and fruit set and the best fruit quality in terms of pulp firmness, total soluble solids and colour (measured 5 days after harvest).
