Phytochemical investigation of Mangifera indica root bark.

Abstract : Three new pentacyclic triterpenes, identified as olean-11-one-13(18)-ene, urs-3-one and 30-desmethyl-urs-3-on-20-ol, and an unknown alicyclic glycoside, 10-nonylcyclohex-12-ene-11-glucoside, were isolated from root bark of mango cv. Desi (collected from Madhya Pradesh, India) in addition to the known compounds ?-sitosterol glycoside, mangiferin and isomangiferin. The structures of these phytoconstituents were established on the basis of spectral data and chemical transformation.
