Abstract : A new insecticide, imidacloprid, was applied to mango trees at the panicle emergence stage and again 21 days later, at 0.4, 0.8 and 1.2 ml/litre. Mango fruits picked at the stone formation stage contained 0.209, 0.389 and 0.563 ppm imidacloprid residues which dissipated to 0.156, 0.274 and 0.311 ppm, respectively, at maturity. Whole fruit samples as well as fruit pulp at harvest, however, did not show any detectable residues of imidacloprid.
