Abstract : Hydramethylnon applied to the bases of coconuts spaced at 9 m in the row and 11 m between the row, and interplanted with pineapples, effectively controlled P. megacephala. This resulted in substantial expansion or establishment of O. longinoda within a period of approximately one year, followed by increased nut retention and its improved quality. Interplanting coconuts with O. longinoda host trees such as citrus, mango and guava provided the best nesting sites for the beneficial weaver ants.
