Induction of cropping in 'off' year of Alphonso mango by paclobutrazol.

Abstract : Paclobutrazol (7.5 and 10 g/tree) was applied during 1993 in India to the soil under mango trees (cv. Alphonso) at a distance of 2 and 4 feet. Treated trees flowered directly on previous season fruited shoots, thus resulting in fruits the following year (an 'off' year). Paclobutrazol (10 g/tree) applied at 2 feet from the trunk induced maximum flowering (57.5%).
