Abstract : Field experiments were conducted in Uttar Pradesh, India, in 1992-94 to study the phenology and growth of Imperata cylindrica in a mango orchard. Results indicated that maximum growth occurred during the rainy season, while sporadic rainfall, low temperatures and high humidity in winter led to slow growth. In summer, above-ground biomass fell slowly from March and high temperatures and low humidity suppressed growth. Biomass was lowest in this season.
