Abstract : Following the discovery of the curculionid Sternochetus mangiferae, a survey of this pest of mangoes was intensified in Trinidad in 1994. The results suggested that in the season following the initial discovery of the weevil in Trinidad, infestations were still mainly limited to County St George. Fruit infestations were still very low at 1% of the total number of fruits sampled, and 0.05% of the total number of seeds sampled, but infestation of up to 16.66% was found at one estate. Of 10 mango varieties recorded as having been infested, 'Long' seemed to be the most susceptible.
