Abstract : The effects of growth regulators on stooling success in mango cultivars Bombay Green, Bombay Yellow, Amrapali and Sonatol were studied in 1983-86. The growth regulators were applied to the girdled basal portion of an etiolated shoot before a mound of soil was formed around the base and the treated area. IBA and NAA were tested separately as well as in combinations with PAA [phenylacetic acid], BA, Ethrel [ethephon], chlorogenic acid and pyrogallol. A maximum of 70% rooting and 73% survival occurred with 15?000 p.p.m IBA + 2500 p.p.m. NAA in Bombay Green, 67% rooting and 67% survival with 20?000 p.p.m. IBA + 10?000 p.p.m. IBA in Bombay Yellow, 80% rooting and 70% survival with 1500 p.p.m. IBA + 5000 p.p.m. NAA in Amrapil and 57% rooting and 50% survival with 15?000 p.p.m. IBA and 10?000 p.p.m. NAA in Sonatol.
