Abstract : Two experiments were conducted on mango cv. Arumanis trees between June and Dec. 1994. In the first experiment, trees were treated with Dormex (hydrogen cyanamide) at 0.5, 1, 1.5 or 2%. Dormex treatment hastened budbreak and increased leaf drop compared with untreated controls. In the second experiment, treatment with growth regulators (0 or 100 p.p.m. GA3 or 2000 p.p.m. Promalin (GA4+7 + BA)) + 0, 2 or 4 cm³ Algifert (an algal fertilizer)/litre was combined with the release of 0, 5 or 10 bees/cluster. Promalin application combined with the release of 10 bees/cluster and no fertilizer increased fruit set compared with other treatments. Promalin alone increased fruit set by 31.8% compared with untreated controls. GA3, Promalin and the release of 5 bees/cluster each increased the number of fruits/cluster compared with controls.
