Cardboard canopies protect mangoes against bacterial infection.

Abstract : Mango fruits, cv. Kent, were enclosed in reinforced paper bags, or partially enclosed in open-ended polyethylene sleeves, or protected by cardboard canopies, or left exposed, and the incidence of bacterial spot [Erwinia mangiferae] was assessed when the mature fruits were harvested. All treatments reduced disease incidence, cardboard canopies being the most effective; moreover, fruit colour development was better with this treatment.
