Abstract : The effect of time of day on numbers of Anastrepha spp. captured in McPhail traps hung in mango trees was investigated in Mexico in May and June 1986. A total of 1,929 individuals of Anastrepha spp. were captured, of which 96.6% were A. obliqua and A. ludens. The 1st flies were caught at 08.00h, and captures increased to a maximum between 14.00 and 16.00h, declining thereafter. No flies were caught between 18.00 and 06.00h. It is suggested that this temporal variation in capture rate is probably the result of changes in environmental factors such as humidity and temperature.
