Relation between extractable chlorophyll and portable chlorophyll meter readings in leaves of eight tropical and subtropical fruit-tree species.

Abstract : There was a highly significant, linear relationship between acetone-extractable leaf chlorophyll and leaf optical densities estimated using a portable chlorophyll meter (SPAD-501) in experiments on cashew, mango, Litchi, rambutan, jackfruit, durian, custard apple (Annona reticulata) and carambola trees growing at Darwin. In situ estimation of leaf chlorophyll content using the chlorophyll meter was considered convenient, fast and accurate. There were no significant differences in instrument performance between 2 SPAD-501 meters operating within their calibrated range.
