Abstract : The mango pest Aulacaspis tubercularis was reared successfully in the laboratory at various temperatures and relative humidities on butternuts (Cucurbita moschata), these vegetables being readily available throughout the year. The shelf life was increased by dipping the butternuts in the fungicide benomyl 50% WP at 3 g/10 litres of water for 10 s and sealing the flower and stem end- sections with melted paraffin wax. This facilitates handling the butternuts and prevents crushing the scale.
