Abstract : The symposium was held at Taichung District Agricultural Improvement Station, 18-20 Apr. 1989. The 21 papers presented at the symposium are divided into three sections: (1) Fruit tree nutrition (7 papers on: nutrient acquisition and translocation; carbohydrate biosynthesis, partitioning and translocation; nutrient deficiencies and toxicities; leaf and soil analysis; root development); (2) Orchard soil management (3 papers on: application of organic matter; soil physical properties; plant water relations and irrigation); (3) Fruit tree nutrition and fertilizer management (11 papers on: physiological disorders of fruit trees; nutrition and fertilization of wax apples [Syzygium sp.], guavas, pineapples, bananas, mangoes, loquats, grapes, pears, Japanese apricot and citrus). All papers are in Chinese but English captions to the figures and tables, and English summaries are provided. There is also a general discussion (in Chinese only).
