The effect of the fertilizer application interval on the mango.

Abstract : A 15-15-15 NPK fertilizer was applied at 300 g/tree to cv. Khiew-sa-weuy at intervals of 7 and 15 days, and 1, 3, 6 and 12 months. Application at the 15-day interval resulted in the highest rate of flower bud differentiation (96.3%), recorded 17 months after planting. No buds were differentiated when fertilizer was applied every 12 months. At high soil moisture levels, flower bud differentiation only occurred on 50% of shoots when fertilizer was applied at the 3 shortest intervals and there was no differentiation at the 2 longest intervals. Trees treated with paclobutrazol, however, all differentiated flower buds. Plant growth, fruit yield and earliness were all promoted by frequent fertilizer application.
