Abstract : Research carried out under the Grain Storage Programme, the Root and Tuber Storage Programme, the Fruit and Vegetable Storage Programme and the Oilseed Storage Programme is reported. Nine technical reports are published on the following subjects: maize treatment with chlorpyrifos-methyl and pirimiphos-methyl; assessment of wood ash for yam (Dioscorea rotundata) tuber storage; extension of the shelf-life of sweet potatoes by chemical treatment; diseases of oranges in Ibadan stores; influence of hot water dips and chemical treatments on the postharvest life of local Alphonso mangoes; effect of temperature on rot caused by Aspergillus niger and Rhizopus microsporus on onion bulbs; storage of melon seeds in various containers; food marketing in Oyo State; and quality of maize and sorghum stored in N2 in metal silos for 4 years.
