Abstract : Field trials were carried out in Uttar Pradesh, India, in 1976-78 to assess the effectiveness of 6 insecticides against Rhynchaenus mangiferae on mango and in increasing yield. These compounds had been selected from 12 evaluated in the laboratory. With regard to residual toxicity, monocrotophos and phosphamidon were more effective against adults 15 days after spraying than quinalphos, fenitrothion, carbaryl and endosulfan. Monocrotophos and phosphamidon were also the most effective in reducing pest numbers, followed by endosulfan.
