Abstract : The effects of month (Nov., Dec., Jan. or Feb.) and age of the source tree (3, 6 or 13 years) on rooting of hardwood cuttings of the cv. Dashehari using bottom heat (30° ± 1°C), with wounding + 5000 p.p.m. IBA or wounding with no IBA, were investigated. The percentage of rooting, number of roots and length of the longest root did not differ significantly between the 4 months. The juvenile hardwood cuttings taken from 3- and 6-year-old trees gave a significantly higher percentage of rooting, number of roots and length of longest root than cuttings taken from 13-year-old trees. Wounding with IBA treatment gave a significantly higher percentage of rooting than wounding with no IBA, irrespective of the month or the age of the source tree.
