Abstract : The efficacy of 0.03% phosphamidon, 0.05% endosulfan, 0.025% methyl demeton [demeton-S-methyl], 0.04% Ekatox [parathion] and 0.02% formothion against the noctuid Chlumetia transversa on mango was evaluated in field studies in Jammu, India, in 1975-77. Each tree was drenched with 5 litres of spray emulsion at the first emergence of new flushes in August-September and 4 weeks later. All the insecticide treatments were significantly superior to the control. Endosulfan was the most effective treatment in controlling populations of C. transversa, followed by parathion.
