Abstract : Mango latex from unripe fruits has long been known to cause allergic contact dermatitis. The nonvolatile composition of mango (cv. Alphonso) latex was analysed and the major component was isolated and characterized as 5-[2(Z)-heptadecenyl]resorcinol. This is thought to be the mango dermatitis allergen.
