Abstract : Observations on the growth, development and insect pests of local and imported fruit and nut trees in the Solomon Islands are reported. Although imported mango trees grew well, they were heavily attacked by the noctuid Chlumetia euthysticha and an unidentified lepidopterous leaf-miner. Extensive damage to breadfruit (Artocarpus altilis) was caused by an unidentified noctuid; about 10 other species of pests (Coleoptera and Lepidoptera, some of them unidentified or identified with some uncertainty) are listed from Terminalia catappa, Averrhoa carambola, sapodilla, mango and avocado.
