Observations of internal mango flesh breakdown: need for standardization of terminology.

Abstract : Symptoms of three different stages of internal physiological flesh breakdown (premature ripening, stem end breakdown and jelly seed) are described. They are similar to those reported in South Africa and Florida under various names. Certain cultivars (e.g. Tommy Atkins and Sensation) appear more susceptible. There are no cultural control methods so planting susceptible cultivars should be avoided. A list of cultivars at Walkamin displaying internal fruit problems is presented.
