Seasonal changes in the nucleic acids, proteins and amino acids in the developing mango buds.

Abstract : In studies with the regularly bearing cv. Bangalore and the irregularly bearing cv. Dashehari, buds on the shoot tips of the 3 main flushes, namely, March, July and September, were sampled at monthly intervals between May and December. Data are presented graphically on quantitative changes in RNA, DNA, total protein, soluble protein, and total amino acid contents for each flush. Buds of the March flush in the cv. Dashehari showed the greatest fluctuations with regard to all indices measured. The findings are discussed in relation to irregular bearing.
