Abstract : Eight plant growth regulators were tested in sprays in the field in India in 1979-83 for their effects on galls formed by the pest Apsylla cistellata (Buckt.) on mango. 2,4-D and 2,4,5-T gave rise to abnormal open galls with loose scales and an elongated axis, the effects being dependent on the dosage. Nymphs of A. cistellata could not survive in galls on plants that had been treated with 2,4-D at 100-200 mg/litre.
